Devolution Recordings

Scope: Brand identity | Logotypes | Record packaging | Custom type experiments

Devolution Recordings was a small but perfectly formed record label rooted in the fringes of innovative dance music. The brief was straightforward: give the label a visual voice that reflected its sound — energetic, exploratory, and unafraid of the unexpected.

We developed a brand identity and accompanying creative output that worked across logotypes, record packaging, and promotional materials. The approach was stripped back and purposeful, letting rhythm and movement guide form and proportion rather than ornament. The project also served as a testbed for some of our more esoteric custom typefaces, letting type play a lead role where it suited the music. What matters is clarity in context — legibility where it’s needed, attitude where it counts.

This was a project about attitude, not trends — a toolkit that could flex across sleeves, posters, and digital assets while remaining unmistakably itself.
